Tasks that traditionally require hours or days of manual effort can now be completed in minutes. AI-powered document review uses advanced technologies like machine learning and natural language processing, to analyse, review and classify large sets of documents.Cognitiveplus Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) simplifies complex legal processes through automation and AI, and makes document review faster and accessible to non-experts, saving time and reducing risks for clients.Cognitiveplus is UK-based legal tech startup offering a document review platform designed to extract key provisions from documents and enhance contract processing by streamlining reviews and improving negotiation outcomes across various industries. Company’s expertise extends to FinTech, and task management, providing a comprehensive document management software solution.Collaborated with CEO, customer success, product and engineering teams throughout all product phases delivering maps, concepts, sketches and designs for MVP and key user scenarios and features. Also, redesigned branding, design/illustration systems and marComms solutions through web, mobile and print touch points.

Problem

Users find starting and configuring a new project , as well as adding related legal documents along the way, complex and cumbersome with limited guidance along the process, based on customer support feedback and usability evaluation findings.

Similar key user tasks as reviewing these documents, editing and confirming document insights take longer than expected to complete, when successful, adding to the overall user's frustration and drop off rate as well as to customer support overheard and IPD.

Solution

Redesign key user scenarios and flows from scratch by creating step-by-step processes and simplifying key user tasks for first-run and revisiting users through introducing tested UI patterns within main flow and employing best design practices for users completing their daily routine effortlessly.

Understanding the problem

Discover & define

  • Gather insights through stakeholder interviews from customer success and product teams (Day in the life of and other user needs)
  • End-to-end journey mapping (website, web app) of the current experience from Lawyer (First run and revisiting users) and Admin personas perspective
  • Identify pain points through UX audit (Usability Inspection) and consult user researcher
  • Competitive analysis
  • Reviewing with teams for analysing findings and framing problem statement
  • Outline improved experience and design action items in a design brief

Designing the solution

Design & deliver

  • Sketch and wireframe (low-fidelity) the design proposal and review with feature team
  • Revise and move on with high-fidelity designs
  • Create clickable prototype and share with product and content design team for review
  • Test the prototype with real users (current clients)
  • Iterate, finalize and hand-off to devs with annotated specs and design system
  • Participate in Bug bash testing of produced features with cross-teams for identifying potential bugs before release
  • Monitoring feedback from customers after soft release and plan updates
